Kenya lies in the East African region. In many ways Kenya is the entry or exit point for most trips to East Africa and a favorite package safari destination. Lying on the Far East end of Africa along the Indian Ocean and astride the equator, Kenya is bordered by Somalia to the northeast, Ethiopia to the north, Southern Sudan to the northwest, Uganda to the west and Tanzania to the south. Lake Victoria is to the southwest and is shared between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Kenya is known for its numerous wildlife reserves with thousands of wildlife species. Kenya's covers an area of 580,000 sq km both landmass and water bodies with a population of nearly 40 million people. Kenya has a diverse mix of tribes numbering 42 all of whom speak different languages. The country is named after Mount Kenya, a significant landmark and the second highest mountain peaks in Africa.

 

There are three major cities in Kenya namely; Nairobi - the capital city, Mombasa – the port city located on the Indian Ocean and Kisumu – a port city located on Lake Victoria.

 

Perhaps one of the most spectacular event that brings majority of adventure visitors to Kenya is the Great Wildebeest Migration which happens between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.
