The Maasai Mara has a lot to offer in the way of accommodation. Below is a rough price bracket in US dollars per person per day (pppd).
Delux (US$500+ pppd): Deluxe accommodation in the Masai mara include exclusive camps. The rates charged in most of these camps include luxury full board accommodation, guided game drives and walks in the park, night game drives in some camps, local drinks, park and conservancy fees. Most of these camps are located in conservancy areas where there is restricted vehicle movement and you will not see vehicles traversing the area. These camps are ideal for filming safaris persons seeking seclusion. Exclusive booking for the camps is also available. The number of tents in these camps is also limited.
Top End (US$350 - 499 pppd): Top end accommodation like deluxe accommodation also offer personalized services and exclusivity. These are also luxury camps offering superior services. The rates include full board accommodation, guided game drives, night game walks in some camps.
Mid Range (US$200 - 349 pppd): Most lodges and camps in the Masai mara fall under Mid range category. These facilities offer relative luxury but not exclusivity. These include 5 star lodges and camps. The facilities charge for accommodation only. Game drives here are offered by tour companies, however the lodges and camps also offer special packages for an all inclusive safari including scheduled game drives.
Budget (US$50 -199 pppd): Budget accommodation includes 3 star, & 4 star lodges and camps. These facilities offer standard accommodation. The rates include full board accommodation. Game drives can also be offered at special rates.
Camp Sites (US$5 - 49 pppd): This category includes basic camping sites. Meals and game drives are arranged separately.
Mobile Camps (US$350+ pppd): These are seasonal luxury camping sites that are set up in different locations within the park and conservancy areas. Mobile camps follow migratory routes of wild animals and are popular with filming safaris. These are also exclusive and bookings are based on exclusivity. |
